B'nai Emunah Cooking School

The kitchen is always more fun when we fill it with good smells and good company. The B’nai Emunah Cooking School connects eager learners with talented teachers to explore various forms of culinary expression. From “basic chicken soup” to “Seder for 40” BECS workshops help animate your home cooking and make Jewish culinary tradition come alive. This is a place to expand your skills, get your hands messy, and let us take care of the dirty dishes.

It's a two-hour cooking class. Taught by experienced chefs, each class will include instruction in kitchen skills, new recipes, and practical use. A flat materials fee covers your food supplies. Everyone takes home something yummy from class.

Anyone. We mean it. Whether you've been cooking your entire life or your greatest dish is "cereal+milk," we think you'll get something out of our workshops. We keep enrollment small to maximize individual attention. Think of us as "Bubbe's Kitchen" meets Cooks Illustrated.

Each workshop is offered several days and times throughout the year. Take a look at each registration page to select the option that works best for your schedule.

All classes take place in the kitchens of Congregation B'nai Emunah. These strictly-kosher, commercial facilities are the perfect classroom environment for this type of workshop.

Anything Else?

All workshops adhere to the guidelines of kosher cooking. Equipment and supplies are provided. On occasion, specialty equipment is required (e.g. Instant Pot.) Anything we forgot to answer? Contact Rabbi Kaiman.

Delish Gefilte Fish!

You either love it or you hate it, but we think you should love it. Gefilte fish is one of the most iconic and mysterious Jewish foods, and we're ready to pull back the curtain and show you how to make it at home. In this workshop we’ll explore the background of this unique dish and the food history of the Ashkenazi Jewish life. The materials charge for this workshop is $18.

Instant Pot Shabbat

The counter-top device that everyone is obsessing over comes face to face with Shabbat dinner in this three-hour workshop. Explore this new culinary technology with accessible recipes perfectly designed for the Friday night dinner table. Along the way we will practice knife skills and explore essential elements of a beautiful Shabbat table.

Seder Simplified

The most daunting holiday meal? Maybe. But we think hosting Seder can be a pretty manageable task. Just let the B’nai Emunah Cooking School and instructor Molly Berger show you the way. In this evening workshop, we’ll dig our hands into essential recipes, learn skills that will save you time, and help you envision hosting a bountiful feast of your own. Along the way, we’ll enjoy good food and have a great time together. Call our offices or use the module below to register for this workshop. The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. The charge for materials is $18.
